Antoine Jonquière is a French documentary and portrait photographer based in Stockholm, Sweden. Driven by research-led, self-initiated projects, he predominantly explores the diverse cultures and identities of different nations, by documenting the often complex and at times incongruous relationship that exists between tradition and modernity.

He has photographed Tamil palm wine collectors in northern Sri Lanka, young boxers in Accra, Ghana, and is currently working on a documentary about Swahili identity in Zanzibar. His work has been featured in GEO Magazine, Photo Vogue, Suitcase, and Gestalten.

In 2016, Jonquière co-founded The Independent Photographer, an artistic platform in which photographers have the opportunity to submit their work to themed monthly awards, overseen by some of the industry’s leading figures including world-renowned photographers and photo editors. For the past 7 years, he has served as the company’s Visual Director and Head of Photography.
